But you can. They can. In fact, we all can. But it takes courage. Courage to be the person you were born to be. Courage to show people your real face and risk facing their ridicule, judgment, criticism or perhaps worse, their complete and utter apathy.
Those who have tried and failed to walk the road on their own share a common bond … a seed of terror that was planted when they took the leap to expose their amazingly wonderful self to the world and fell flat on their face. No one noticed. No one cared. No one listened. Or the voices of the few who did were drowned out by the silence of the masses who didn’t which led them right back into hiding their light.
And then there are others who have never quite mustered up the courage to try. They’ve walked right up to the edge (probably many times), but they spent too much time peeking over the side only to find the many reasons that it wasn’t the right time, they weren’t quite ready, they needed to learn just a little more, they needed to wait for more clarity. All delusions of the mind really … reasonable and rational excuses to avoid taking the leap.
The two groups are really not that different. They’re both standing in the same place looking out at a world of possibilities and opportunities yet terrified to take the leap. But the news is good.
It turns out that it doesn’t matter where you are right now. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been stuck there. It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve tried and failed or how many times you’ve avoided trying altogether. It doesn’t matter how big your dream is, how old you are, what obstacles are on your path, or what challenges you are facing. The journey is always the same.
